Five Question Friday!! - July 30, 2010

1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it?

I did... I had a teddy bear that Mom tells me I took from my sister when she was born - I guess it was
one of her gifts... I still have him! He sits on our dresser. He's a little worse for wear, but still with me!

2. Do you dream in color?

Yes, I do - and I never know they're dreams until I wake up. It's all totally r
eal until I wake up and realize I was dreaming. Sometimes it's a real let-down.

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller?

I'm 6 ft. tall. I'm good with my height - it's nice to reach things and not have an
y trouble, but I wish I was thinner. I don't see that happening. :(

4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be?

It would have to be Sam Elliot - I LOVE his voice! Even when he's doing commercials and voice-overs, I know it's him!! Nice deep voice with a Texas accent... what could be better?

5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot?

It depends. Most of the time we return them. One thing we always do is to bring in a cart that's sitting in the parking lot, or I'll pick one up from someone who's just finished unloading it to save them from having to corral it.

Cuttlebug Quilling - Daisies

My first sojourn into using the new Cuttlebug Quilling dies! I ordered all three:
Daisy
Rose/Carnation and
Chrysanthemum, but received only the Daisy set because the other two were backordered.... SO, I decided to see what I could come up with playing with the Daisies!

Each daisy is inked twice... a light color to coordinate with the cardstock, and a darker color to accent the edges of the petals. I've started doing that just this past week, and really like the effect. On the leaves, I just used the Garden Green ink, and the bone folder to give them some 'lift'.

I like this blue flower because the leaves look so good... at first I thought there were too many, but it really seems to work.

For adhesive, I used my chisel point Zig pen. I found out that if you run the Zig pen along the entire length of the strip, you get a much neater flower in the long-run. I made some that I only glued up the very ends, and they were tough to handle.

I took this picture so you could see how big they actually get once you're done making the flowers. They're not too large, but are way too thick for mailed cards - unless you use a flat rate box. $4.95 to send a card is a little excessive, in my opinion, but for something VERY special, I would make an exception. :)

Family Reunion Poster - Cricut Lite!!

Mom told me about a family reunion coming up in August, and though I can't be there, I thought I'd send her pieces to make a poster... she said, "Make them big for our old eyes." So, there aren't many pieces, but they're all cut at either 3 or 4 inches tall, so they are quite big!!!

I hope they all fit on the poster board.

The letters are cut from the Hello Kitty cart at 3 3/4 inches, and triple layered...as well as adding red stickles around the borders.

Each of the following pictures are from the Cricut Lite Cartridge Block Party, and cut at 4 inches. I used inking, stickles, and different colors of gel pens to add details to each cut.

I also cut 4 strawberries from the Preserves cartridge to use as corner pieces, or border edges.

Five Question Friday!! - July 23, 2010

1. What were your school colors?
My school colors were purple and white... Kiel Raiders! I had a purple and white gym bag that I carried books, and 'stuff' in... and I had a purple and white leather sleeved letter jacket. LOVED that jacket!! I still love purple and white together.

2. What's the best compliment you ever received?
Two I can think of... one lady in the grocery store told me I looked like Wonder Woman. I liked that one! Another best compliment is in public with my parents, running into students/parents and them telling my parents what a great teacher I was to their child.

3. Do you buy cheap or expensive toilet paper?
This was actually brought up in one of my college classes about decisions we make on how to spend our money... I skimp on other things, but spend money on TP. Now, I do try to save and buy in quantity at Sam's, but we get the good stuff with the bears!! :)

4. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? Or have you had one for someone else? Yes! for both. :) I had a surprise party for my 20th birthday. The guy I really liked was there, and some of my closest friends. I've thrown many many surprise parties, and am going to organize one for my husband's 50th very soon. He won't know what hit him!! One time, we threw a surprise TP party (in college)! It was WAY too much fun.

5. What is one material possession that you "can't live without"?
Wow... good question - My TV... not because I watch it all the time, but for the peripheral 'noise'. I can't stand quiet... it really bothers me. That's why there's music on my blog, too.

Cards for Soldiers 7/5 - 7/23/2010 45 Summer Fruits!

This round of CFS I was making up for a lost commitment. I promised 15 cards before my nephew's wedding and I just couldn't get them done. SO, for this challenge, I made 45 cards. 30 for this round and the missing 15 from the previous Challenge.

I couldn't believe how lucky I was that the challenge was Summer Fruits! I'd been playing with my Kitchen Sink Stamps - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries... and had 2 sheets all stamped of more One Sheet Wonders! I've stopped using the template, and started cutting the sheet up into inchies, and inch strips because I like the way they look. I also got the chance to use one of my newer carts, Preserves to cut the double strawberries. During a meeting I had last week the strawberries got their doodling after I'd inked them with Pomegranate and Garden Green ink.

Please enjoy!!! Can you pick out the two that are my favorites from the set??

This is one of my two absolute favorites!!!
Red, White, and Blue!

I really love this one too... lots of inchies all spaced out, but your brain puts them back and allows you to see the entire picture. :) This one is my 2nd favorite!
