Painted Blooms with a Mother's Day slant!

After showing the original 6 cards I made at my club, then everyone got together to make them!
My little class of 5 or 6 people (which I was VERY happy with) turned into 19 for our club groups!

WOW!

I was asked to make some cards with a Mother's Day bent since it was close to that time.  I have such a narrow view of Mother's Day...but some of the ladies at the class said they give 4 or 5 Mother's Day gifts each year!  Very extended families, I guess!

Here are some of the samples I brought along for the group to use as inspiration.

Mother's Day Card

Mom did receive this card in time for Mother's Day.  I just had the image sitting in my camera and finally got it downloaded!

Lots of pinks on this card - Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, and Pretty in Pink (ret.)

After embossing with the filigree folder, I inked up the design to help see the details.

The Stamp set is actually a Christmas stamp!  I used very light greens to stamp it, and after adding the flowers, it doesn't look anything like a Christmas wreath!  It's like a multi-tasking stamp!  Very cool!

Please enjoy!  Mom said she loved it!

Mother's Day Card - and a Surprise!

I saw a version of this card online as a girl's 21st birthday card from a demonstrator out of Australia.  It was stunning!  I made a few changes, but kept the same flavor for the card.
One of my all-time favorite stamp sets, Stippled Blossoms make amazing flowers for so many different card and craft applications!  I used Pretty in Pink (ret.) and Strawberry Slush papers and inks.  The background pieces are two Stampin' Up die cuts, one a thinlits, and one doily.
The original card has pearl accents - and I have lots of rhinestones.  They always are so nice for flower centers and sparkly accents!

When Mom was here visiting over Easter, she brought card blanks.  We ran out of time because of all the baking we did - and I took an evening and put together these 11 cards for her.
Three colors:  Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo.
Stamp set - Gorgeous Grunge!  I also used the speech bubble framelits and marker to get the outlines on the stamps with another sentiment stamp set that fit.

Now she's got a good selection of stamped cards to send when she needs them!

Mother's Day Card-in-a-Box

I am very fortunate to have a few people at my work that make requests of me, either card-making, craft-making, or baking.

This is part 2 of an order I received for a Mother's Day Card-in-a-Box.

The base card stock is Crisp Cantaloupe, with paper from a DCWV stack for the blue, and glitter blue mat pieces.

The tulips are colored with a blender pen -  Daffodil Delight with Crushed Curry accents; Bashful Blue with Marina Mist accents, and Crisp Cantaloupe with Coral accents.  The butterflies use the same colors, in marker.

Click HERE to watch a video on how to make these AWESOME boxes that fit into a regular A2 envelope!  SHABAM!  That just cracks me up!  So funny.

Operation Write Home - Box 2

Here are the cards I sent out with my 2nd Operation Write Home box.  The Easter themed cards are due the 7th, with Easter, Spring, and Graduation due later.  Since I made so many Mother's Day cards, I sent them early so they can be divided among units as per OWH's instructions.

Click on any of the smaller images to make them appear larger for a better view.
Here I used a retired Stampin' UP set called Easter Blossoms.  I love the image, so I try to use it often.  I used the Elegant Bouquet Flower embossing folder for the background flowers and chalks to color them with pastel colors.  I know I've said it before, but I REALLY love the new stamp pads!  Such nice coverage on the images!  I sent just 4 of these Easter Blessings cards.

In the OWH box, I included 21 of the Mom cards-  I stamped them about a year ago while working on another project, and with the purchase of my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I now feel I can do the stamp some justice!
These are the colors I used:
Mom:  PP2, PP4, LG4, LG5, HB2, HB3, and IB2, IB3.
Remaining stamp areas:  IB2, CT2, FS3, TB1, GT1, PP4, HB2, LG2, IG1

I also punched out vellum and Pretty in Pink cardstock butterflies.  This is the new butterfly punch for the Spring Stampin' Up catalog, and I also used SU rhinestones and pearls for the butterfly bodies.

I really love daffodils.  When we moved into this house, I planted almost 75 daffodil bulbs that November, and each Spring we have a wonderful daffodil display in the front areas of the house.  They're so SO pretty!!
I made 10 of these daffodil cards, and used these Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Stems:  LG5, LG4, LG3, LG2
Flowers:  CT4, CT3, CT2, CT1, OR1
FS1, IG1 and BT1

Aren't these little bees adorable?  I found this stamp recently at Hobby Lobby and just had to have it for Valentine's day - though it can be used for almost any occasion....
One of the big rules for sending cards to OWH is no glitter, so I used some of my glittered cardstock so it won't rub off.
Spectrum Noir Markers:
Bees:  CT 3 CT4, IG9, IG10
Bee outfit: GT1, GT2

Bees' wings:  BT1, BT2
Shadow:  IG1

Mother's Day Card

This is the Mother's Day card sent out to her earlier this week. It's a collection of stamps I bought this past spring break while we were traveling again in Tennessee.

IF you look closely, you can see that all the blue morning glories are 'popped' with dimensionals, and three of the birds as well.

I really love using the watercolors - it gives such a nice depth of color, without smudging as markers tend to do on cardstock sometimes.

Here's the inside view of the card.

Here's the back view of the card (before I put my stamp on it) with the 3 yellow birds also popped with dimensionals.

The front and back panels also have lots of stickles for glitter!!

Mother's Day Card and Vellum Technique

I saw this technique using vellum on a beautiful card.... watched a video showing the entire technique, and thought I'd have to give it a go.

Stamp your image on vellum with Versamark ink and use embossing powder - I made one in silver, and one in white.
Turn the image over to the back, and color with markers.

For this piece, I used the following markers: Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, and Wild Wasabi.
After using the lighter color to fill the entire space, I used the darker color to fill in the edges, and the blender pens to feather the edges to a smooth finish.

This piece is embossed in white, with Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, and Wild Wasabi for coloring. I used the blender pen to feather the edges here as well, leaving some dots on the edges of the flowers.

Here you can see the completed card with a Pretty in Pink base, and the vellum piece attached with glue dots, and pearls covering the corners.

Your comments are always appreciated!

Mother's Day 2011

Here are samples of 2 cards I cased from the Kitchen Sink Crew.
LOVE how they look like the flowers are lying on a surface....
I made a few variations of these for Mother's Day cards.

Mother's Day Cards for 2009

This is a series of 3 Mother's Day cards I made this year. My Mother-In-Law requested that I make a card for MY mom from her. Yes, a little unusual, but it makes her happy. This first card with the tulips is the one I made because it's different than the one we were sending to my MIL.

I have a previous post back to the Cricut Messageboard regarding this tulip card - it's not my original idea - scraplifted from another Cricuteer. I do love it though, even though it takes some time.

The ladybugs were cut at 1/2 inch and are the perfect size for these flowers! The butterflies are two Martha Stewart punches layered and trimmed to match.

This side view of the card shows the darker green shadow behind the lighter green leaves and stems.
The Happy Mother's Day is a cut from the Wild Card Cart! Gotta LOVE the photo corners - Okie turned me on to those - she does amazing things with them. They're from the Jasmine Cart.
I can't begin to tell you how much I LOVE these daffodils! This card I made twice - one for my Mom, and one for my MIL. Same butterfly punch from Martha Stewart, just in another color.
Another side-view showing the darker green shadow behind the flowers to add dimension.
I added some doodling after I took the picture to add just a little to it.

I hope you enjoy these. I LOVE them! Never thought I'd get as much use out of the Walk In My Garden cart as I do... I guess you just never know.
Happy Mother's Day!!
