Niece's Birthday Card

My recent fascination with the spinner cards led to this Birthday card for our niece.
She's a crafter as well, just starting out.  I knew she's really appreciate this card.

I used my 3 favorite happy colors - Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo.  Together, they just make me happy!  That was the idea for the birthday card!  :)

I took a video of the card, but didn't take a still picture!  RRRrrrrr   so here's a video clip.

More Painted Blooms

At the card class I gave, we made 8 cards, so each attendee had a choice of 2 more cards from the following selection.

The first one looks complicated, but it really isn't.  The most difficult thing was putting the bow together, and that's just fun - and lots of glue dots!!

I love all the cards, but this last one uses the strip you cut off to make the One-Sheet Wonders posted 2 days ago, so there was no waste! :)

Painted Blooms DSP One Sheet Wonders

When I first saw this paper, I fell in LOVE LOVE LOVE!

As I've said before,  I went back to the classroom full time, and it really put a CRAMP in my crafting time! That said, when I saw this paper, I really wanted to have a class and let others learn how amazing this paper is!

I don't do many classes...  this was my 2nd one, I believe.  Maybe it was the third.  I can't remember, it's been so long!

The story behind this Designer Series Paper is that this sheet was painted by a designer, and then used as 2 of the sheets in our 12x12 paper pack.

There was a tutorial on Pinterest, and I thought this would be a wonderful class for card-makers of all levels.
Above, I put the cards back in the same order as the original sheet.
Below you can see all 6 cards made with this one sheet of paper with some additions and embellishments.

More in the next post using other sheets from the DSP pack.

Principal's Appreciation

This is a few of a set of 10 cards I presented to our Principal and Assistant Principal from my team.  We decided to have each of the kids make a card for Mrs. S. and Mrs. M.  It was wonderful to receive them when I was out with an injury earlier this year.  One from each kid with their thoughts.  So nice to read!
The cards pictured here are in addition to the colors I made for Mom.  I reproduced them in sets of 2 so each of these wonderful ladies received a complete set of 10 using all of the "best" colors!  :)
The colors I added here to the set I presented are:  at the top - Pumpkin Pie, directly above is Coastal Cabana
Looking at this blue - I couldn't place it!  After looking,  it's Tempting Turquoise!  Whew!  I forgot!
This is absolutely my favorite color - for so many reasons.  My favorite spring flowers - Lilacs... my favorite Scentsy wax 'flavor', my favorite color..... Lovely Lilac.  I added it with the 2 other purples in the set.

Here is the storage box they received the note cards in.  I used a tutorial online using the envelope punch board to make it.  It uses a belly band to keep it completely together.

Card Refills for Mom Part 2

I'm continuing my quick and easy card stamping series.  The cards go together pretty quickly, and even faster in wonderful company.
My two dear friends come over most Saturday afternoons for stamping, snacks, and girl talk.  It makes the time go so quickly, and we generally get quite a bit accomplished.
Here's a continuation of the note cards I worked on for Mom, with the Stippled Blossoms a few days ago, and now these splats.
My other favorite stamp set of late is Gorgeous Grunge.  I'm thrilled to say it is NOT retiring with the new catalog release!
So HOW did I make all these cards so quickly?  You won't believe it!
Mount the large splat on your block, ink it up quite well, and stamp 3 times WITHOUT reinking down the left/center of the notecard overlapping the stamp a little.  Then, take the envelope and with a freshly inked stamp, stamp it 4 times!
How easy is that!  Just 3 quick steps remaining.  Use the large swirl from the Everything Eleanor stamp set, ink it up well with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and stamp it over your 3 graduated images.
Stamp a sentiment in matching ink with the splats.
Punch 3 flowers in matching cardstock, and mount with glue dots.  Place a pearl in the center of each flower, and voila!  You've got a very impressive set of notecards!
You'll recognize the colors as my usual color palette.
From the top left:  Blackberry Bliss, Perfect Plum, Pacific Point, Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight, Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, and of course, Bermuda Bay!

Playing with the Butterfly Thinlits

These two cards are TOTALLY CASE'D from Pinterest.  Love Love LOVE them!  They're actually quite quick to put together just as my other two cards from an earlier post this week.

I discovered a shortcut from the directions I found from the Pinterest link.  Don't go through all the trouble of cutting half the butterfly, and then turning and cutting the other half of the butterfly, leaving the center intact....
Just cut the butterfly from the center of the card stock in one piece.  After you have all your pieces cut and matted, glue the center body back into its place.  No fussy die cutting.  Why?  1.  It saves a lot of hassle.  2.  It goes much faster.  and the best reason of all:  3.  It's EASIER!  :)
Here are 2 of my samples using the Painted Blooms background DSP, and I added some colored spiky gems from Queen and Co. on the corners that (in person) actually match the colors on the cards!

Supplies I used:
Stampin' Up DSP Painted Blooms
Butterfly Thinlits Dies
Blushing Bride Card Stock
Soft Sky Card Stock
Whisper White Card Stock

Nephew's Birthday Card

I'm still in love with this Thinlits card base!  REALLY LOVE IT!

January is lots of birthdays in our house - my sister's, my nephew's, some friends.... lots of birthdays!

The yellow card I made for my sister, and this Island Indigo card I made for her son are exactly the same card base, but so very different!

I even used the same DSP stack - Gingham Garden for both cards.  It wasn't a matter of being lazy, or not imaginative, just that the colors worked so well.

Here's the inside view of his card.  I really enjoy having that inside panel for messages.

Favorite Uncle's Birthday

Uncle Paul's Birthday is right at the beginning of December so it's usually a bit of a rush to get a card ready right after the Thanksgiving break.  It's also difficult to think up ideas for his birthday cards!

This year, I had a fantastic idea that worked even better than I expected.

You see, my Uncle has season Packer tickets, for as long as I can remember, actually!  He loves going to the games, and the entire family has the opportunity to go to games throughout the season!

SO, a Packer's Birthday card would be perfect.

HOW did I make a Packer's birthday card?  You're probably not going to believe this, but the idea actually hit me when I was making a gift for a friend and she's crazy for OSU.

The logo is actually from a roll of Duct tape.  YES, Duct tape!!!  I didn't CASE the idea from anyone - this one I'm going to take full credit for as mine.  There are so many craft project out now with that stuff, I'm going to add another!
One for the cover, and one for the inside.

Now as I'm writing this post, I just thought of another idea to use with this logo.... stay tuned!  :)  It will be a project for Christmas break.
