Commissioned Project - Signature Book

A little over a month ago, one of my colleagues came to me about putting together a signature book for one of our very special teachers who was chosen as our Teacher of the Year!

I work with some of her students, have been in some meetings with her and know exactly how fantastic she is!  SO.....  after my normal amount of 'thinking time' for a big project like this, and one false start, this is what I came up with.

The main theme is Spring and along the way  incorporated some of her personal likes/activities.   My Cricut got a good work-out on this project.  Almost every page has Cricut cuts, lettering, and lots of goodies.

On the front cover I used my Cuttlebug quilled flowers with some lettering from the Plantin Schoolbook cart and lots of inking and Stickles!  If you look closely, you should see the 'fade' inking with 3 shads of pinks.

I discovered that she is crazy for OSU, and you'll see it incorporated around the book.  The inside cover will be used as a dedication page from the staff.

Here's another variation on the spring theme with Stampin' Up flower trim, Cricut cuts, and a flower border I found at HL.
*As I was working on the project, I sent out an email to my colleagues looking for some words they would use to describe her and incorporated them into the pages, either cut with different Cricut fonts or stamped and added to the pages.

These two pages include Stampin' Up doilies I inked and a stamp set with the framelits dies to cut the words.  The Iris stamp comes from another company using the tole technique of layering.  I stamped 5 of these, colored and layered them.

Here you see another one of the descriptive words from colleagues, a flower border, and a Cottage Cutz die I bought in Tennessee when we were traveling.  I also layered this one, inked, and used the Stickles!

This page was originally going to be butterflies, bees, and ladybugs, but it seemed WAY too busy, so this is what I came up with.  LOVE these bees!  So pretty!

 Just an OSU page!

Here we have yellow daisies with blingy centers, white doilies, one of those adjectives, and a fork bow!

Our campus has a sister school in China with which we have visit exchanges!  Every year they bring students here in October, and we take a group of students in early May.  She's been lucky enough to go to China with this project and will go again, I'm sure!!

This is the last page of the book....  she and her husband are travelers!   Found that out at one of the meetings, and I just had to include it since we are big travelers as well.  AND of course, some more OSU.

I hope you've enjoyed my take on a signature book.... a very specialized signature book!

Cricut Cartridges used:  1.  Walk in My Garden, 2.  Plantin Schoolbook, 3.  Lyrical Letters, 4. Calligraphy Collection, 5.  Pagoda, 6.  Sentimentals
All ink:  Stampin' Up.

Cards for Soldiers 7/24 to 8/14/2010

I signed up for 20 cards for this particular challenge since things are getting busy again around here! :)

For the first card, I embossed the light purple cardstock with the Romance folder, and inked it with both Lovely Lilac, and Elegant Eggplant ink.
The white cut is a Nestability - Lattice. Once I had them cut and embossed then I got out my Stencil collection chalks, and added some color.

I used the Lyrical Letters cartridge to cut out the I Love You's - 3 times... white, pink, and red, layered them with foam, and added red stickles on the heart.

This Love You also comes from the Lyrical Letters cartridge cut 3 times as above. I embossed the white background cardstock with the Candy Hearts folder, sprayed it with Tattered Angels glimmer mist, and then inked the edges twice with Pretty in Pink and Pixie Pink Stampin' Up inks.

2010 CD Case Calendars - Landscape!

Here are the 2010 calendars I designed, and Mom and I made towards the end of January. They just couldn't make a visit any sooner, so I finished the January/May page, and had to wait until they could clear their busy schedule!!

I had most of the cuts ready and trimmed so all we had to do was put all the pages together. It took us about a week working quite leisurely. Since this is the 2nd year we've made these, it seemed to go so much smoother and was much less stressful.

I like the designs this year much better too, which I'll contribute to another year of experience and learning techniques.
Cartridges I used:
Designer's Calendar,
Graphically Speaking
Love Struck
Lyrical Letters
Life's a Beach
Hello Kitty
Doodlecharms
and
Everyday Paper Dolls
I also used some stamp sets from
Stampin' Up, Hobby Lobby, and other
sources. The strawberries come from
Kitchen Sink stamps. Border punches
on many of the months are from
Martha Stewart.
Now to start looking for ideas for 2011!!!
Your comments are always welcome!

Cards for Soldiers "I Love You" 7/28 - 8/14

Can you see the WHEELIE cute hearts in the background of these two cards?

Our CFS challenge this time wasn't so much "I Love You" cards, but there was a request for more of them.... so I made 29.. and I just got this very adorable cupcake/cake stand stamp and I just had to play with it... so that was the 30th card.

Robyn, My Pink Stamper, made a WHEELIE cute challenge. I also love the Stampin Up Wheels - and have many... so after I saw her video, I got out my heart wheels, and ran them on the papers in Pink Pirouette ink for a cute background. I also just got my Color Spritzer, so I used that on the background of another card with the wheel prints!

What fun!!

Birthday Cards for My Cousin!

My husband started a little 'tradition' that when we give cards to each other for any special type occasion, we give one silly, and one serious card. It's always fun to see what silliness we can each come up with, and my husband always picks the BEST cards that say exactly the right things.
SO, with that in mind, I have a cousin with a birthday coming in a few days, and I made him these 2 cards... He LOVES the movie Cars, and so even though I've had this cart since Christmas, I just got it out today. Yes, I know... BAD GIRL! LOL

I had a good time with my glaze pens highlighting the wheels and eye centers... but a trick I've used a lot recently is to cut the small pieces in white or a major color, and then use my Stampin' Up markers to finish the coloring. On the 95's and the yellow front headlights, I cut them in yellow, and then colored them with the Mustard marker! What a hassle saver!!
The pop-up card is something I've done many times already, but they're just so much fun!!! I used one of the EK success punches for the candles, and my Cupcake SU wheel for the 2 borders. I had fun with the markers and the Crystal Stickles!! It's amazing how they just pick up the underlying color and make it sparkle!! I used it on the candle tops, the cupcake confetti, and the other little things that needed accenting.

Please enjoy..... Leave a comment, and sign my guestbook!
THANKS!
