Christmas in July - July 23, 2015

I added some fun embellishments to this card.  I didn't add too much (as per usual) because I wanted to keep the card clean, but the make-your-own brad and Washi tape added to the card nicely.

On both the card front and inside, I used some 'over' stamping to give the trees some more interest.
I really like the verse that fits so perfectly over the tree.

Anniversary Card

Our 12th Anniversary was just a few days ago.

I used a card front I'd created a few months ago... and added the Apothecary Art piece after coloring it with watercolor pens and ink in the same colors of the base card; Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo.

After coloring it, I die cut the piece and inked the edges so they'd stand out against the white background.  The right panel was just enough for some statistics.... years, days, vacations, etc.

As Promised - A Little Later... More Thinlits Card Ideas and Examples

A few weeks ago I posted the circle thinlits cards I made for stamp club.  I took these cards along as samples for other options to make with the circle thinlits.

The base cut on these cards is only a bit different.  Instead of cutting the paper 5 7/16", turn it, and cut at 4 1/4" as in any regular card.  Lay the end over so it doesn't cut, but run the die through your machine (Cuttlebug, Big Shot etc.) only half way!  Score the remaining long piece of cardstock to fold in and make the extension flap you see in the 2nd picture.
Here's a simpler card using my favorite set - Stippled Blossoms.  I kept the outside simple, and when you open the card, there are more details.

Windows and Washi Tape

Yes, another one of the window cards, but this one is very special!

Another Stampin' Up Demo and I were having a chat on FB the other day (Thanks, Mary Director!), and we were talking about Washi Tape.

She gave me the GREATEST hint!  ** Use a 5 x 3 1/2" piece of cardstock, cover it with Washi, and then cut shapes from it!

Here you can see two of the shapes I cut.  I still have one negative and one positive piece from each of these to play with on other cards. :)

LOVE the colors!  Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, and the Washi Tape I got from Queen and Co. at the Tulsa CKC show at the end of August.

If you REALLY look closely at the card, by scrap booking and card making standards, it's unbalanced.  Maybe so, but I love the look, and with the addition of the colors, it works so well!

Here you can see the inside view.  I like using the cut out piece as a base - sort of an optical illusion when you first see the card.

Please enjoy!!
