Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary!

This past summer the entire family was together at home in Wisconsin for an entire list of celebrations:  nephew's graduation, our anniversary, my parent's anniversary, niece's birthday brother-in-law's birthday... there were a few more, but I just don't remember right now!

Almost the entire family went up to Door County for 3 or 4 days.  We stayed at a resort, had the days to sight-see, and spend time with the family in the evenings.  It was wonderful!  Since I moved out of state right after college, this kind of family time just doesn't happen very often.

Well,  after all that, my parents were in town Friday through Sunday - and Saturday was the actual date of their 50th Anniversary!  My husband and I were thrilled we could spend it with them.

This is the card I made.
We went out to one of our favorite celebration restaurants, Carrabba's and had a wonderful dinner and some quality time grilling my parents about their wedding.  My husband loves all the little details.

This card features lots of gold embossing powder - the En Français stamp, and the 50 then crumb cake in for the sentiment and the edges on the punches and doilies.  Love the effect the doily folding gives!

I told Mom later in the evening - if they wouldn't have been on the road traveling during their anniversary, we'd have made a quick trip home to surprise them!  This was an important anniversary, and I'm just so happy we could spend it with them.

Please enjoy!

Thank You Cards

I had a small surprise party for my husband's birthday earlier this month, and these are the cards I made to thank the people who came to help celebrate.

I had this idea, and think it really worked out well - even better than I expected!

I used Wisteria Wonder cardstock as a base, and the En Francais stamp with Versamark ink on the background, and covered it with silver embossing powder.

The flowers were stamped, punched, inked... and the butterfly was stamped on vellum and colored on the back with markers.  I like using rhinestones for the body.

I've also started adding a button with a rhinestone center on flowers - I like the 3 D effect.

Usually a design works better one way or the other, but this card, I was able to switch it up, and the design felt good with the flowers on the left, and right sides so even though they're almost identical, each card is a bit different.

Please enjoy!

The Stampin' Up Annual Ultimate Stamp Camp!

Every year, our Stampin' Up Club Demo Kathy has an Ultimate Stamp Camp.  Due to the fires in Mannford, OK this past summer, the camp was unavailable and she had to scramble a bit to find a different location.

We landed in a GREAT location that worked out very well (or at least I thought it did)...  and though I'm only showing the 2 projects I made, she had almost 8 projects for the ladies to work on over the two-day event.

I had a big Christmas Card order (as you saw from a previous post) that needed to be completed, so I made the following 2 projects, and then used the time and generous work space to really get some work done.... AND I could go home and sleep in my own bed.  Win Win!!

These are stone coasters!  Aren't they FANTASTIC!  We used Staz-On ink to make them, baked 'em in the oven to set the ink, and added felt feet to the bottoms.

This purple set with the G is for my sister.  I had Mom and Dad take it with them when they left to go back home after their short visit.  I am making more for Christmas gifts, but wanted her to have these right away.
This is my set... they are already in use!  Since we have so much wood furniture, I am considering making another set in browns.  We'll see. :)
Here you can see the packaging and storage for the stone coasters.
I've already got 4 more sets already made for Christmas gifts... just need to complete the boxes, and wrap them in the tulle.

This framed piece was in our most recent Stampin' Up Holiday Mini catalog.  It's actually much easier to make than you can imagine.  One trick I learned (the hard way) is to make sure ALL the paint is dry before you start putting the piece together.

This piece will also go to my sister for Christmas.  I hope she likes it!!
Here's a close-up of the center - that champagne paper is "sparklier" in person than it looks in the photos...  SO SO pretty!  I also used a thicker piece of tulle for the bow at the top of the tree.

Mom just HAD to have Red and Green!

When we got home from Stamp Club Monday night, Mom said she just had to have red and green for Christmas colors on these ornament cards.

YES, she really liked the Espresso/Crumb Cake card we made at club, but wanted a set in red and green.

At my craft desk, I had the new In-Colors handy:  Raspberry Ripple, and Gumball Green - so I spent some time playing with the designs.

When I saw this stamp and die set bundled in the new catalog, I knew I'd get lots of use out of them, but I had no idea I'd actually use it this much....  love the stamp set!!!

These two cards were made at the same time, but I mixed and matched the colors - wasn't exactly sure how Mom wanted these, so she gets both kinds. :)

As I've said before, I really LOVE these new ink pads Stampin' Up has designed for us, but sometimes the sponging edges is tricky.  Have to be careful how much ink gets on the sponge, or you have splotches.

Stampin' Up Card Club - October, 2012

 Our October Cards:

I really like this card - the extra layers really make it nice in person.  I admit I didn't choose the sentiment very well, but just went with what was on the stamp block already.  I keep the cards we make, and then reproduce them - so it's mine anyway. :)  MINE, I tell you!  (LOL)

I REALLY love this card - basically a simple design with lots of great detail.... Lacy Brocade embossing folder, En Francais background stamp, layers, stamps and die cuts, some bakers twine and a pearl.  So many basic items - but put together SO well!

Kathy, as usual did a fantastic job.

Stampin' Up Club Cards August and September 2011

We made 3 cards on our August Stampin' Up Club Night!!!

This card uses two types of embossing - the swirls are from the Texturz Plates, and the other is the oval Designer Frames. This comes in a pack of two with a rectangular frame as well as the oval.
We used lots of techniques! Stamping (of course), embossing, tearing, inking, punching! It's a lovely card in person.

This card uses a color I'm not so thrilled with generally - River Rock - though the more I use it... I think it's growing on me! The background piece was a very interesting technique using our E clear block!! WTG, Kathy! It looks AMAZING!!

Hello, Doily! I loved this stamp from the moment I saw it... and even more every time I use it. It's heat embossed along with the sentiment in white. The trick?? Layers of powder! Don't just apply the powder once - keep pouring it on 3 or 4 times to get really good coverage.

Here we have our September cards. LOVE all the colors on this card!!! So fall-ish! I'm sad that the Build-a-Brad has retired... I really LIKE those!

This card again uses the Texturz plates to add the detail on the blue piece. This card was so much fun to make!! You'll recognize that I used the technique on one of the music cards (below). Stamp the background - clear emboss the piece (here, a leaf) and then use the sponge daubers to ink the piece with 2 colors. It's really amazing!!
