New Catalog (2016-2017) Event Samples 10

Over the past 2 years or so I've made MANY Card-in-a-Box(s)...  many many many!  I love them.  They are relatively easy once you have the dimensions for cutting and scoring.  The engineering is not terribly difficult, it just takes a little know-how.  I'll have a tip for you at the end of this post.

Even though this is the 10th post of Event Samples, This is one of the first pieces I made.  I am not very happy with the Happy Birthday banner on the front, and I'll change that.  I WILL change it. :)

This is the project where I came up with the idea for using the Sprinkles punch pieces as balloon strings. :)  Maybe one of my later samples will have some on a card....

The awesome thing about these Cards in Boxes is that they fold up into a regular A2 envelope.

TIP:  I keep a 3-subject 5 Star notebook.  In the folders, I keep typed up directions I receive, or things I've printed online.
On the pages, I keep diagrams, drawings, directions, and plans for projects.
It's a great resource.

HERE is a link to a written and pictorial tutorial on a Card-in-a-Box...  the directions are great, and this one is closest to what you see above.
What I did was take these directions, and write them for myself in my 5 Star Craft notes so all I need is my notebook, and I don't have to search around online when I want to make one, or five, or twelve! :)

New Catalog (2016 - 2017) Event Samples 4

Here are two more cards I made showing the same basic stamping technique, with one relatively plain card, and the other amplified to show more detail.

Both cards use only the new color Emerald Envy.
Now anyone who knows me very well knows how I've always hated the color green.... over the years as I've been crafting and stamping (since 2008) I've come to grudgingly realize that I need green in my crafting.  Grass, leaves, accent color....  you just need to use green.

Well, when I saw our preview of the new colors, I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the new color Emerald Envy.  LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
You should have seen the shock on my mother's face when I told her how much I love this color!

The first card is stamped at the top, and not reinked, but stamped below to cascade the colors.
This amplified version just adds two details the first card after I tore the stamped piece.  I added Washi Tape, and a banner die cut with a Happy Birthday from a different stamp set.

Same card, two completely different looks.

New Catalog (2016-2017) Event Samples 2

Have you noticed that I LOVE the Balloon Builders stamp set?  I REALLY DO!!  I love it with the "old" colors, I love it with the "new" colors... I LOVE it!

This post features 2 cards - one relatively plain, and the other amplified to show different ways to make cards.  If you're a newer stamper, the first card is a great one to make.  If you want to work on advancing your skills, all you need to do is add a few details!  Here's how:

I used two stamp sets for both of these cards:  Balloon Builders, and One Big Meaning. I really love the Thank You showing on these two cards.  It's a pretty font, and nice and swirly.
On this card, I added ONLY 3 things.  1.  I added a black mat behind the white stamped piece, 2.  I added Washi Tape on the corners, and 3. I added a piece from the new die cuts around the Thank You.  That's it!

If you need a Stampin' Up Demonstrator to help you with ideas for projects or gifts, I would be most happy to help!  Contact me.

I am TOTALLY Taking Credit for this Discovery!

I have been very busy the last 2 weeks making samples for our New Catalog Event on June 18th.  It's 3 demonstrators and we're previewing the new colors, showing samples of old and new stamp sets, 6 Make-and-Takes, image stamping, door prizes...  it's going to be SPECTACULAR!

I worked on a Card in a Box, and here I'm previewing just a piece to show you a Sprinkles punch idea.

I punched out some pieces of DSP, and they seemed really perfect to work as balloon strings!

SO, that's my brilliant idea.  Use one or two of the Sprinkles punch pieces as balloon strings!  You could even cascade them to make really long curly strings.

My Card Club First Club Date.

Our first club meeting consisted of these two cards. I used my normal color palette in the first card, and decided to use another color grouping for my 2nd card.

#imbringingbirthdaysback is the new Stampin' Up! theme for the year.  Lots and lots of birthday card making options!
The card above is from the Balloon Builders stamp set in Blackberry Bliss, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, and of course.... Bermuda Bay!
The inside is the best part!  Stampin' Up came up with pop-up dies!  They're so easy to use, and make a real statement! The one showing could be used for so many occasions; not just birthdays!  There is another die with the set that is a Happy Birthday pop-up.  Here it is!  (See below).

They come in a  package of 2 die cuts called Party Pop-Ups Thinlits Dies.
This card used grays and black! Timeless Textures is the stamp set, and I again used the Thanks die on the front. (It's one of my faves.) I think one of the texture stamps looks like a coffee ring. It's quite out of my comfort zone, but I really like it!
