Father's Day Card

Who knew Father's Day cards would be such a dilemma!  Whew!  There are lots of great masculine cards out there, but I've already used lots of the ideas, and don't want to repeat any.  That's the problem!

I already used the old car in the weeds,  the grill, the shirt and tie....  now what!?
Plus, after retirement, my dad started making personalized cards on the computer with photos and things, so when I present him something he looks for the stamp I use on my creations... and then I get a grunt of approval.  Pressure!!??!!  :)

After spending quite a bit of time thinking, I remembered one of my Cricut carts has tools!  It just so happens that Dad is GREAT with tools and builds all kinds of great stuff... so this is the card I came up with for him this year.

I used lots of dimensionals to raise everything off the page... and used white and silver pens for accents.  The background is a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock embossed with the steel plate folder.

I hope he likes it! :)

My Friend's Card - GREAT job, Melissa!!

Two of my very dear friends come over on Saturdays - sometimes very often if we have big projects to work on, sometimes seldomly when things get super busy....

My friend Melissa made this card for her Dad for this coming Father's Day.  I asked her if I could post it here on my blog, just because it looks so awesome!

She stamped the old-time bicycle on vanilla cardstock and used a circle punch to start the center and tore the light blue and kraft paper to make the torn vintage style window.

She also used brads, washers, and some Tim Holtz products to finish off this card.  If you look closely, you can see "most' of her in the background. :)

SO love this card!!

Father's Day 2012

Yes, a belated Father's Day - but my dad will be visiting in just a few days, and instead of sending this through the mail, he will just have to wait until he gets to my place!!!  Now my dad is not much of a tie-wearing dad... but he does wear one on Sundays, and for very special occasions!!

We found a VERY cool gift.... but that's a surprise!

I found this card on the Stampin' Up website, and just had to make it!!  It's a lot easier than you think - just some paper folding and easy techniques.

This is similar to a card by Brenda Keenan, and HERE is a link to her video showing how to make this card, AND lots of great variations.  I used the "same collar" variation instead of showing another pattern.

Father's Day, 2011

Our upline Stampin' Up Demo Kathy had this card for us at our May Stamp Club... it was SO SO CUTE! I was "done" for the night before this optional card came up, so I got the measurements and put some together this week.
When I got home, and looked at Splitcoast, I found the version Kathy used as her inspiration... but felt that it was WAY too busy!! The one Kathy came up with was MUCH better... and I just added the grass from my MS punch.

I know my sister will be thrilled with this when she sees it... she LOVES the heat embossing and the shiny surface it gives! :)

Train Magnets for Father's Day!

I got this Mini-Train set on Ebay even though it's a Stampin' Up set... Gotta LOVE the quality of the stamps! :)
I stamped them, and colored them with my SU markers... then hand-cut the pieces nice and close... I tried double-layering the pieces, but they look much better with just the black background. I then mounted them on magnets so Dad can use them on the fridge, or down in his train room.

Kitchen Sink Stamps!

So here I am on the Cricut Message board, minding my own business as usual.. LOL "Right!"
There was a post about these Kitchen Sink Stamps.... of course my curiosity got the better of me, and I had to go check them out... well.... FLOWERS! I'm on a flower kick right now - if no one else noticed. LOL

My Dad's favorite flower according to my Mom is the pansy... she always plants lots 'cause he likes them... and I saw that set... I just HAD to have them!

First, it seemed like the price was a little steep... well, for what you get, it's NOT!
Second, I couldn't believe how FAST the shipping was!! WOW! I ordered early Thursday morning, and they were here Saturday!

After looking around the website for some tutorial assistance, I made these!!!

My parents will be traveling during Father's Day, so Mom will take it along for a personal delivery.

I used the new EK success punch for the top border cuts - inked the blue edges with my new Brilliance Sky Blue Opalescent ink... (also used for some of the flower stamps) and popped the pansies with some 3M foam squares. I also inked the largest nestability scalloped oval cut with the same sky blue ink.

You can see the popped flowers better in the 2nd pic. I also added one of the larger flowers on the envelope.

Comments are welcome!!!
