A Valentine Project with our 4th Graders

I've had a puzzle die for a VERY LONG time!

This year I thought of it in enough time to get the cardstock cut, and took my Cuttlebug to school.
I used this sample to show the kids how it would look when they were finished, and what their task was to make this puzzle message as a gift.
I stamped the Happy Valentine's Day message in the center, and left the rest blank for the kids...  They wrote and colored the rest of the piece.  I cut each one and placed it in an envelope so they could present it to Mom, or Dad, or Grandparents, or Aunts/Uncles, etc.

Pride and Prejudice and Jane Austen

I've had this stamp set for a LONG, LONG time!

After starting the other blog, Susan Vilar Stamps! for my Stampin' Up! projects - because I didn't want to continue mixing the two styles, I'm going to begin showing my other creations.

I used vanilla cardstock as my base simply because I thought white would be too harsh with the cameo look.  The cameo and the frame are die cuts coordinating with that stamp set.

I've recently found a little local shop here in town that does consignment type things for crafting.  These two cards will go in with the first 'shipment' of things I take over for sale.

A little story:  I found the 6 hour mini-series by chance quite a few years after it debuted in 1995.  After my husband bought me the DVDs, I watched it almost every weekend for about 2 years?  3 years?  Yes, really.  I still break out the series when I have a lot of intense crafting to do.  It's like an old friend, and of course... Colin Firth.  What could be better I ask you?

HERE is the link to the stamp set, and if you scroll down, the die cuts are also available.

Valentine's Day 2013 - Explosion Heart Valentine

Is it Valentine's Day ALREADY!?
2013 certainly is flying by!!!

I made a total of 7 of these cards - and used so many stamp sets!  I'll have to update this post and make a list of all the stamp sets I used.

You can see the "How-To" video HERE that I watched to make the card initially, but I used lots of different things on this card, and some trial and error to make it nice.
I used some of the retired stamp sets and retired Valentine paper - it's really too bad, because the papers were so pretty, and I wasn't very fond of what was available this year.  I don't call it making do, just using the GREAT stuff I already had!

The fun is when you untie the ribbon, and the card opens.  See below!

Here you can see the heart opened - The embossed heart on the left is on designer paper, with glossy Cherry Cobbler powder because I know how much my sister likes the feel of that embossing. :)  Just for you, Gail!!

Just enough room under the Be My Valentine to write a short note.

I added the lace behind the card to make it nicer, and needed to come up with a new technique to solve the problem of the lace coming off of the TTT - It worked pretty well, and the lace is staying put.

I made a total of 7 of these - my first sample went to my husband, had orders for 5 from work colleagues, and gave one to someone I work very closely with for his new fiancee.  I got a text this morning saying that she LOVED it!  :)  NICE!

Stampin' Up Card Club - January, 2013

As always, our Club leader Kathy has come up with some VERY nice cards!

This first card uses a new stamp set and punch available in the new catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure.  I know I'll get lots of use out of these small punches - especially layering with the larger curly label punch!

This card is STUNNING!!!  I know I'll be making more of these - can you see it with Red, White, and Blue theme - Stars, banners, etc.  What about Red, Green, Gold/Silver for Christmas?  What about shades of greens and shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day?  OH!  Black, Orange, Yellow, with pumpkins/ghosts for Halloween?  Definitely an idea to play with!

Once you've gotten the dovetail trick down, it goes pretty quickly!!!

Please leave a comment. Thanks so much!

Cards for Soldiers - February Happy Valentine's Day!

I haven't made Cards for Soldiers in awhile simply because it's been crazy busy here. I missed crafting a lot so I decided to make some Valentine Cards.

LOVE the Kitchen Sink Stamps, and I haven't used them in awhile. There are so many pretty heart/rose images from this company! I also got out one of my favorite heart wheels and used a darker pink just to be able to see the hearts running across the background!

Here is a set I made similar to last year - One Sheet Wonders using red and pink roses with the Romance embossing folder.

Please Enjoy!

January New Occasions Catalog Stamp Camp Candy Project

Here's a quick post showing the candy project I've designed for our January Stamp Camp! It holds 4 Hershey's Nuggets... just enough for a gift.

The embossed hearts also show a technique I used a few years ago in a craft fair.

Please enjoy!!

January New Occasions Catalog Stamp Camp

This card is one of two projects of mine we will make January 14th at our Occasions Mini Catalog Stamp camp. Robin will have 1 card, and 2 treat projects, and so will Kathy!

I LOVE the scented embossing powder! This card uses the Cherry. It lasts a LONG time!!!

Another project will post later this week. Chocolate, anyone??

Valentine Cards for 2011

Here's a few of the Valentine cards I made as samples for our Valentine Stamp Camp. One of the sets is on special until just this next week (January 24th, 2011). It's a great special with the stamp set, patterned paper, and a set of free bitty buttons with purchase.

The following cards use a selection of stamps from the Filled with Love set that's featured in the sale. This set has lots of versatility for Valentine cards, Wedding cards, Anniversary cards, etc.

This Love set comes from the current catalog - Love You Much.

This new stamp set comes from the new Occasions Mini, and is called "Valentine Defined". It's got so many parts to the set... SO cute!!

I really love the bleeding hearts piece from this set! It colors easily with the markers, and stamps GREAT!!

This card uses the same "Valentine Defined" set, but I re-purposed an easel card base for this! LOVE the grass with heart tops! :) I also stamped that on the envelope for this card.

This stamp and punch combo is one of my all time favorites!!! It's called Build a Blossom. You absolutely want to get the two as a set!

Click on over to my Demonstrator site on the right to find these stamp sets! **If you order the clear stamps, don't forget the blocks! I can help you with the sized you'll need! Thanks so much for looking!!

Cards for Solders 12/10 - 1/7/2011 Valentine's Cards!

Now that the holidays were over, I could again work on my CFS project!!
When I checked the messageboard, the theme was Valentines. I immediately thought of the KSS 3 step Hearts and Roses stamp set! How perfect.... flowers for Valentine's day!!

I've included the recipe at the end of the post. Please enjoy!!

Step #2: Pretty in Pink
Step #3: Pretty in Pink stamped 2x

Valentine's Day 2010 - OSW!!

I'm still stuck on these One Sheet Wonder cards!!!
I used lots of different inks and stamp sets, all from Stampin' Up:
Inks:
Yo Yo Yellow
Pink Pirouette
Riding Hood Red
Purely Pomegranate and
Rich Razzleberry
The stamp sets I used:
Love You Much
Priceless
I {Heart} Hearts
Well Scripted and
Framed with Love

I didn't make all 10 cards out of the stamped sheet, so that allowed me to use some pieces I cut freely for the card insides and the punched and over-stamped pieces. Please enjoy!!

Your kind comments are always appreciated!

Stampin' Up Club! ~ January 2010 Projects

The kindness card uses acetate film to connect the top layer with the bottom patterned paper section. When you open it, you can see the entire stamped sentiment inside the card. It turned out really cute, and just in time for Valentine's Day!

How can I begin to say how much I LOVE this card? It has to be right up with the pheasant card as one of my favorites. The corners are punched with the new Stampin' Up corner punch... and the large purple flower is adhered over a stamped base flower for dimension. We used the 'airbrush' technique to give the white background some coordinating color, and stamped the backing sage green piece with more leaves. It turned out SO nicely!!

Kathy's really got us using lots of great card making techniques, and she tells us of many more coming this year. I can't wait!!

Contact Kathy for card making products and other supplies from Stampin' Up!!
