Card in a Box 2

The base for this card, is Crisp Cantaloupe - seemed perfect for a spring-y bouquet of tulips!

My parents went on a trip to Europe a few years ago, and mom had MANY bulbs sent back from Holland.  They visited a very well-known tulip market.  When they arrived she had them planted in 2 areas of the yard.  When they bloomed - it was an explosion of color!  Every spring she has a huge bloom of the tulips around the yard.

After using this stamp a few times, I thought it would be perfect for the Card in a Box technique!

All the tulips are colored with the blender pen - Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi for the leaves, and Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Bashful Blue, and Marina Mist for the Tulips.   I also used the same colors in marker for each of the butterflies.
There isn't a die cut for the tulips, so they are each hand-cut.  It didn't seem to take very long at all to cut each of the flowers... I made this on a Saturday crafting day when my friends were over, so the cutting went along with great conversation!

Here you can see one of the ways to fold up the card to place in a regularly sized envelope.  I love how the flowers look when it's folded too!
I've started using a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch piece of cardstock to cover the card and protect the embellishments during mailing.  It seems to work, and the envelope isn't torn as badly - especially with brads, or rhinestones.

Counselor's Day

Today, February 4th we are celebrating Counselor's Day at school.

I made this card for my team to present to our wonderful counselor!  I work closely with her, getting advice and with one of our testing programs.

I really do appreciate her!
This is the card I came up with.  It's a little busier than my usual work, but in person, it's quite stunning if I do say so myself.

I already had the background stamped with the pink flowers for another purpose, but it didn't quite work for that project.  I took another look at it, and it was perfect for this card.  I stamped another pink rose, and fussy-cut it to make it stand out a little more.

The sentiment "Just For You" is from a retired set called Tagtastic.  It's too bad it's a retired set - I really like the detail on the stamp with the spaces for some extra coloring detail.

Please leave a comment. Thanks so much!

New Catalog Stamp Camp, June 8, 2011

Here are some of the NEW In-Colors for 2011 - 2012. I featured Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Calypso Coral in my 2 cards for this event. There are two more: Wisteria Wonder, and Lucky Limeade. Also featured are NEW stamp sets, and one that will retire at the end of August.

The Just For You image is from a set called Tagtastic! The ribbon lace border is a frame technique used as a highlight.

This stamp set was the very first one I ordered from the new catalog... Delicate Doilies. It's SO pretty!!! The images look just like tatting to me. The small piece in coral coordinates with the Doily Triple Layer punch.

Here's the inside of the Doily Lace card - It uses the Lattice Die to make the pop-up piece, and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die to make the butterflies.

Your comments are always appreciated!
